Memory Loss or WTF am I talking about?

Taking a quick break from ILL, reserves, student schedules and any of the other 5 million things I've been doing today.

Second semester started today and I am back to my old 3pm-midnight schedule.  (Thank you, God!  Btw, can you stop winter?  Just a little?  Hugs and kisses!  Me.)

Monday we had a mini blizzard.  If by mini you mean zero visibility and by blizzard you mean holy cow, I can't see my house from the driveway!  So I only worked for four hours on Monday and then Tuesday we had orientation for transfers, an overload of ILL, no students, reserves needing to be put on NOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NOW!  Btw, bringing books in the day before classes start to be put on reserve does not the brownie point receive.  Wednesday (today) we were swamped.  I sent out a call for help and our lovely ILL student came to the rescue whittling the scary 39 items awaiting processing down to 16 waiting to be scanned for tomorrow.

Anyway, that was a long winded back story for my next story.  (Well, not really back story.  More like back vent.  Is that a word?)

I was filing some reserve slips when I saw the folder we keep for one specific class that always has the same books go on reserve.  Our last secretary had put it together (complete with label and everything!) a few years ago.  I decided to just glance at it as I need to take them off of reserve now.  One of the lists was a print out of the barcodes with handwritten titles under it.  I was just thinking what a sweetheart she was that she took the extra time to go through and double check that what we had on reserve was the same as what was on the list when I took a closer look.  And felt like a total idiot.  It was my own handwriting.  Done before I knew how to print off both barcodes and titles together apparently.  Not that I can remember doing it in the first place.

Don't you just wish that you work with me?

    It's a miracle

I have a confession to make.

I just worked out for half an hour.

    I know!

I bought the dvd Core Rhythms years ago and I tried it a couple times. Holy cow do those girls go fast! I'm thinking this is one dvd that will have to wait until I loose a little more weight or suddenly become coordinated. Please excuse me while I laugh hysterically.

I didn't do that bad. Okay. I only got through the warm up and 1 1/4 of the sessions. Of which there are two. But still! I did it! Most of my problem comes from the fact that I have two left feet. The way I was tripping all over the place, you could have sworn I had about four or five feet going in the wrong direction, though. Plus I kicked Emme in the face. Not terribly hard but enough for her to run away from me. So I'm thinking kitties go in their room with the door shut while Mommy is exercising, mkay?

Tomorrow I am going back to the oldie but goodie, Tae Bo. The Basic workout, of course, where I can stare at Billy Blanks with his blue spandex leotard thing and wonder how much he got paid to wear what looks like a reject superhero outfit. A too small reject superhero outfit. Seriously. His man boobies are kinda falling out. Ewww.

You know how it feels when you hang upside down and all the blood rushes to your head? Yeah, I feel a lot like that right now. Only I was standing up the whole time. Go figure. Otherwise, I feel okay. No major owies, yet. Yet being the operative word.

And now for the serious section of this post. (Have you noticed that I do this? I'm all la la la then bam! I start being all serious and weepy? I don't know, either. Maybe I'm bipolar.)

So, the whole exercising thing has been brought on by a couple of things. I sorta realized that I'm going to be thirty in four years. I'm not spazzing about turning thirty 'cause it's just not a big deal to me. I just think that by thirty there should be a few things that I should have taken care of.

I finally got the hair and makeup down (okay mostly down), I'm slightly more financially stable (stress on slightly) and I'm finally coming out of my shell (okay, people who know me now can't believe that I was way shyer and quieter than I am now and people from back then, well, actually I haven't seen people from back then in forever so I can't be certain what they would say, but I'm sure it would include some whoah's but anyway. better!).

So these are the things I need to be working on before I turn thirty:
    1. Loose some weight. (Stupid health insurance says I'm obese. I wear a size 12 for crying out loud!)
    2. Get a life outside of work!
    3. Make a good friend to do stuff with (okay, I do have friends. they just all graduated and moved to exotic locations. and I work nights so I'm not exactly around a lot of people (although I do get stalked by the Wal-Mart floor waxer guy a lot). and I don't really make friends all that well. back to the shy thing.)
    4. Learn to walk in heels. A frivolous goal but a goal nonetheless.

    Snowbank Blues

So. I got stuck in a snowbank today. The snowbank located directly next door. I didn't even make it to the end of my street, yo!

A series of events led to this snowbank. I got up an hour and a half later than I was supposed to as we were to have our belated staff Christmas party today at noon which is when I usually get to work over Interim and I needed to get there early. So I was in a hurry for that. I didn't let my windows completely defrost on the inside as I was in a hurry (no worries, I could still see, just the far edges were a little blurry!). And last but not least, I was trying to avoid two kids walking home from school who thought that they should walk down the middle of the road when a car is coming. I moved over too far and ended up with my right bumper in a snowbank. I tried to back out but every time I tried, the kids kept getting closer to the car. I finally rolled down the window to tell them I needed some room to back up. Have I mentioned before that I'm not particularly fond of children?

Anyways, all that stopping and starting got me even more stuck. I called the tow truck and the lady said that it would take some time as one truck was just leaving Ft. Dodge and one had a call just outside of town. I gave her my number and walked home (next door! how embarrassing!). I was on the phone with my mom venting about how I got stuck (next door!) when my neighbor (from next door!) knocked on my door and offered to pull me out. I called the tow truck back but the lady said he was on his way. We actually met him right when my neighbor was starting to hitch up my car. He left and I hope that they don't charge me. Keep your fingers crossed!

So, my neighbor got me out, I circled the block and pulled into my driveway and called it good. Then I called my mom back and ranted some more.

On the bright side, the University is closing today so I don't have to take any PTO. Yay for paid day off! Except for the snowbank part. I could have lived without that. Also, I got most of my groceries for the month last night (how's that for being prepared?) so I won't starve any time soon.

So the kitties and I have taken up residence on the couch. We just finished Bedknobs & Broomsticks, totally one of my faves. Trying to get up the energy to start on my mountain of dirty dishes.

Btw, would it be bad of me to hope that tomorrow is another snow day? I was just thinking that well, I don't work Friday or Saturday and if we get Thursday off as well, I could be looking at a four day weekend! Awesome!

    This Just In ...

... I am sick. I have been sick since I got home from work on Friday. I am miserable. I haven't had a cold last this long in forever. Usually day and a half max. Not four whole days.

Yesterday, I got up at 4pm, went to my mom's to take her shopping, got home at 10pm, went to bed at 11pm and woke up at 4:30am. I stayed up today until 6:30am and then went back to bed until 9:00am. I just don't have any energy.

In other news, Christmas is happening today in about three hours. Because Mother Nature has decided to dump a ton of snow on Iowa. Travel is not advised for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Awesome.

So I have made the executive decision to bump Christmas with my uncle up to today, bring my mom back to my house for Christmas Eve/Day and not get stuck in a snow bank. 'Cause it would so totally happen to me. Cold + Snow + Ice = Snow Bank.

Also, I am seriously leaning toward hibernating after Christmas until I have to go back to work on Monday.
